Opportunities at the 2012 Stigma Conference!

The 2012 Conference on Stigma, Discrimination and Disparities in Children’s Services is just around the corner!

If you haven’t registered yet, please register online by clicking HERE. You can also visit the Kona Kai Resort and Spa site to RESERVE A ROOM for the conference.

We would like to take this opportunity to highlight the SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY FOR FAMILY MEMBERS AND YOUTH to attend the Community Roundtable Forum and keynote addresses on the final day of the conference, for a reduced fee of $100. This is a wonderful opportunity for families and youth to not only learn about what is happening across the state and country, but how they can get involved in reducing stigma, discrimination and disparities in their local communities!

A reminder that TWO UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS are available for students currently enrolled in a social work program to attend all three days of the conference at no cost. Applications can be found HERE and are due by the end of the month.

We are also looking for VOLUNTEERS AND ROUNDTABLE FACILITATORSto help us during the conference. Volunteers and facilitators will have their registration fees waived. Please spread the word and send interested volunteers our way!

Would YOU like to attend the 2012 Conference on Stigma, Discrimination and Disparities in Children’s Services in San Diego February 15-17, 2012?

The Family & Youth Roundtable is offering two full scholarships to cover registration costs to the 2012 Conference for two university students currently enrolled in a social work program. The application is due by January 31, 2012 and can be found here.

Another opportunity for students to be involved is by facilitating a roundtable session each day of the conference, guiding a small group discussion on important items from the morning’s keynote addresses. If you would be interested in attending the conference as a roundtable facilitator, please email change@fyrt.org or call 619-546-5852.

We are also looking for volunteers to help with the conference from February 15-17th. Please let us know if you are interested!

For any family members or youth who would like to attend the Conference, we are offering a discounted registration fee of $100 on Friday, February 17th! United Advocates for Children and Families is hosting a Community Roundtable Forum and would like to receive input from local families and youth! Greetings! We hope you are having a great start to the year. The 2012 Conference on Stigma, Discrimination and Disparities in Children’s Services is fast approaching, so we wanted to keep you informed on the latest agenda and registration information! Feel free to pass along this information to others within your organization, agency, or community.

Don’t forget to REGISTER for the conference online! If you encounter any problems, please contact Brooke at 619-546-5852 ext. 211. Registration fees are $350 for the full conference and $175 for a single day. You can pay online with credit card, or register to pay by check and we will send you an invoice.

***Special Invitation for Family Members***

The Family & Youth Roundtable would like to extend a special invitation for family members and/or youth in the community to attend the 2012 Conference on Friday, February 17th, at a discounted rate of $100. United Advocates for Children and Families will be hosting a special Community Roundtable Forum for family members after the close of the conference on Friday afternoon.

If you know any family members and/or youth who would be interested in attending for a discounted rate on Friday, February 17th, please have them email change or call Brooke at 619-546-5852 ext. 211.

As the conference date approaches, we will be assigning specific times to the presentations. Presentation order is subject to change.

1.5 CEU hours will be given for each Workshop and Keynote Presentation.

If you are presenting at the conference, and you would like to request a change in date(s) and/or title or description of your presentation, please contact Brooke Nichols at change or (619) 546-5852.

Child-serving agencies that wish to promote excellence in their service delivery need to have strategies in place that support the agency’s ability to continually evolve. This allows the agency to be responsive to the target populations they serve. To realize this goal, the agency needs to hear directly from those youth, children and their caretaker/family on:

A) how services are being received,

B) the impact of services on their desired outcomes /usefulness of services received, and

C) improvements that could be made by service provider.
